The summertime is one of the best times of the year, as it allows people to get outside and enjoy beautiful weather. In addition, many people get time off work or school during the summer, giving plenty of free time. One of the best ways to spend this free time is by taking a little trip and experiencing something new. These small little trips aren’t exactly vacations due to their short length and are instead referred to as day trips. So what are the best day trips to take? Here are six summer day trip ideas that you can utilize this summer.

Hiking

One of the best options for a summer day trip is to go hiking. Hiking in the summer is perfect, as the weather is beautiful and the trails are covered in greenery. In addition, there’s plenty of opportunities to see animals out and about during summer hikes. Hiking is a great way to get out and get some exercise during the summer, and can even allow you to see some sights that you wouldn’t normally see. There are plenty of hiking trails throughout the country, so you surely have one near you that’s within driving distance. Just be sure that you’re careful with your footing and that you bring plenty of water, as you don’t want to have to deal with any injuries or dehydration on your hiking trip.

Theme Parks

When people think of theme parks, their minds immediately snap to the big and famous ones like Universal and Disney. For most people, these theme parks are unfortunately too far away for a day trip and are much better to be reserved for a full-blown vacation. However, there are a wide range of smaller and lesser-known theme parks in your area. Although these theme parks may not have as much to offer as the more famous ones, they still have plenty of rides and entertainment to make visiting them the perfect day trip.

Camping

Another great nature-related day trip is camping. Camping can allow you to get away from your bustling life and can be done in just one day. If you’re someone who feels cooped up, then maybe it’s time to get away from that real estate in Toronto and get in touch with your natural side. There’s plenty of camping activities that you can enjoy, including cooking on an open fire and relaxing in a tent. If you want a summer activity that will allow you to get in touch with nature, camping is the perfect activity.

Museums

Certain days in the summer may be too hot for you to do anything outside. For these days, doing an indoor activity like visiting a museum could be the perfect way to spend your day and cool off. Museums are great because they can be entertaining and educational at the same time. In addition, there are many different types of museums out there, allowing you to tailor your trip to your interests. You could visit an art museum, or instead, you could opt to visit something like a history museum. Regardless of what you choose to do, going to a museum is a great day trip for all involved.

The Beach

Everybody loves going to the beach and relaxing, making it one of the best summer activities out there. Fortunately for many people that live by the coast, the beach is only a few hours away. As a result, these lucky individuals can drive to the beach for a day and enjoy all that it has to offer. You could get up early in the morning, drive to the beach and spend all day on the beautiful sandy shores, listening to the sound of waves crashing. Finish the day off with a great seaside meal, and start the drive home before it gets too late. Visiting the beach with a day trip is the perfect way to kick back, relax, and make the most out of your day off.

County Fair

One of the more interesting options for a day trip is the various county fairs that pop up during the months. These fairs are always a great time, as they offer food, rides, games, and other entertainment. The fairs also have tons of local flare, meaning that it’ll be extremely familiar and hit close to home. Since these fairs will either be in your own county or in one near, you don’t have to worry about driving too far to reach them. If you’re looking for some local summer fun, visiting a county fair in your area could be the perfect day trip.
